FUR CARE
JOYÉ garments are luxurious pieces crafted from the finest natural fur, tailored using carefully selected, certified materials. With proper care, your JOYÉ piece will preserve its beauty and value for many years, becoming a timeless part of your personal heritage.
To ensure longevity, softness and lasting elegance, we recommend the following care guidelines.
Proffessional Care
- ٚA professional fur specialist should inspect and clean your fur garment at least once a year. The ideal time for this is after the cold season, when the piece will not be worn for an extended period. This process is essential to prevent the leather from drying out.
- ٚEven if the fur does not appear visibly soiled, professional cleaning helps remove fine abrasive particles and chemical residues, maintaining the furs natural softness and flexibility.
Proper Storage
- Always use a broad-shouldered hanger to support the shape of your fur garment. Ensure there is sufficient space in your wardrobe so the fur is not compressed by other clothing.
- ٚAvoid exposure to direct sunlight or strong artificial light, as prolonged light exposure may cause fading, oxidation or changes in color.
- ٚKeep fur garments away from heat sources.Extended exposure to heat can negatively affect both the fur and the leather.
- ٚProper ventilation is essential. Fur must be stored in a breathable environment that allows the material to retain its natural balance.
- ٚTemperature and humidity play a crucial role in fur preservation.
- ٚExcessively dry environments can cause the leather to lose its
- natural oils, leading to brittleness.
- ٚWarm and humid conditions may cause the fur to lose volume and develop an oily or sticky appearance.
Traveling with Fur
- Travel bags are intended for temporary use only. Upon arrival, remove the fur garment and store it according to proper fur care guidelines.
- ٚNever use plastic or rubber-lined bags, as they prevent air circulation and restrict the fur’s ability to breathe. Vacuum bags may be used only as a short-term exception.
- ٚThe remembered JOYÉ dust bag is designed for optimal protection during travel, preventing compression and preserving the natural texture of the fur. Your garment will remain as impeccable as when it was placed inside.
Fur and Weather Conditions
- Natural fur adapts well to snow and light rain, with the exception of particularly delicate fur types.
- If a fur garment becomes wet, gently shake it and hang it on a broad-shouldered hanger in a well-ventilated room, away from other clothing.
- Never place fur near heat sources or use a hair dryer, as this may damage both the fur and the leather. Allow the garment to dry naturally. Once dry, gently shake it again to restore volume.
- If the fur becomes heavily soaked, we recommend taking it to a professional furrier as soon as possible for proper treatment.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray, aerosols or other chemical products directly onto fur garments or accessories. These substances can dry out the fur, alter its appearance and reduce its natural sheen.
- ٚDo not leave jewelry, such as brooches or pins, attached to fur garments. These may damage the fur, cause discoloration or lead to hair loss in the affected area.
- ٚWearing a light weight scarf between the fur garment and your skin can help protect it from makeup and natural skin oils.
- ٚNever sit on your fur garment, as pressure may permanently damage the fur and leather.
